Chongqing Lianxin Intelligent Technology Research Institute has successfully developed a laser power transmission system based on adaptive optics, enabling wireless charging for drones during flight. This innovation solves two key challenges: precisely hitting high-speed moving targets with laser beams and achieving efficient photoelectric conversion.
With over 3.28 million registered drones in China, the technology aims to eliminate range anxiety in the low-altitude economy sector. Furthermore, it holds applications in anti-drone defense against unauthorized 'black flight' activities.
This means that commercial drone operators can significantly extend mission durations without landing for battery swaps or cable charging. For logistics, surveillance, and agricultural surveying, this reduces downtime and operational costs. The adaptive optics core also suggests potential licensing or component supply opportunities for drone manufacturers and defense contractors.
